Element Accessories stand for fusion of European and Chinese knowhow in design and production techniques. This series was designed by upcoming Chinese design talent: SUNs, previous winner of Red-Dot Award. The aim is to popularize a New Modern Chinese style, with a new and unique identity, “from made in China to designed in China”. The OTARU series combines in aesthetics: traditions of the Song dynasty (see: the shape and the tiny bronze legs) with modern minimalism; in technique: pottery craftsmanship and factory production of specially imported high temperature resisting clay; in finishing: a mineral glaze with natural ore, skillfully kiln fired (1360 degrees), to achieve a natural look and feel of bronze fading to dark clay. Over 1 year of research and several specialist were needed to get this result, especially the bronze-black finish was hard to achieve.
